Big River 2 Day.

Meeting at the road house around 7.30am, it was decided that we would travel together until we reached the outskirts of Melbourne. There was a little confusion resulting in different routes being taken by some, who found themselves on the way to the airport.

Eventually we arrived at the camp around 11.30am. Pedro and his mate Macka had arrived early and had the camp all set up which was great. A quick BBQ and off into the mountains we went, about 20 riders in all.

Very slippery and tight, there were a lot of get-offs with two retirements. Jiffy ran out of talent down hill and sprung his shoulder. Needless to say, the ride was over for him. Model also had an argument with the ground and sprung a few ribs, but he did front up next day. The rest of us made it back to camp mainly unscathed with about 70 kms under our belts.

Thanks to Pedro's mate Macka, the BBQ was soon on the go and it wasn't long before we were all fed, jolly and settled in around a nice big fire. The Tim Tams and honey-coated cashews go down well with the odd port or two. Not to mention the cheese dips and cabana.

The next day arrived with persistent drizzle. After a fine breakfast of bacon, eggs and fruit, it was back into the mountains once more, leaving Jiffy behind with his sprung shoulder and Stewy, who we think pulled a heart muscle. It wasn't long before the first incident. Poor Lasty was found staggering around like a prizefighter, after a trip over the handlebars. That's what he thinks happened anyway. After taking him back to the cars to ponder what actually happened, the rest of us headed off again. This time, much more open with plenty of rocks and slippery mud. Lots of crashes and flats but we made it to Woods Point in one piece. Woods Point is a great little town with one pub, one fuel pump at the shop and only one guy serving 20 blokes fuel and food. It did take a while, but didn't really matter because Jill and Christmas needed the time to repair flats. Back to the tracks and all good stuff in the afternoon, followed by a BBQ back at camp before packing up and heading home. A great weekend.

Specials thanks to Pedro's mate Macka for looking after the camp, Mobsy and his crew for leading a great ride and Christmas for a fine catering job once again.

Super.
